About us

About us?

We are a multidisciplinary team of specialists from diverse backgrounds (foresters, chemists, physicists, mathematicians, economists, jurists, agronomists, and others) directly linked to the forest sector in Cuba. Among its members, we have professors of forestry teaching at the University of Pinar del Río (UPR), as well as the Faculties where Forestry Engineering is studied at the Universities of Granma, Santi Spirits and Guantánamo, the Agro-forestry Research Institute (INAF), The Ministry of Agriculture (MINAG), the Ecology and Systematics Institute (IES), the Ranger Corps (CGB), the National Center for Protected Areas (CENAP), the National Company for the Protection of Flora and Fauna ENPPF), as well as the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA) ..

What do we do?

We collect all the information we produce, own or manage by the forest sector and we make it available to all through the Virtual Community of Forest Resources to contribute to the dissemination of knowledge of all institutions dedicated to study, manage, protect and harvest forest resources in the Central American and Caribbean region, as well as in other regions of the world. Therefore, the CVRF is not responsible for the veracity of the documents uploaded, which corresponds to the editorial boards, doctoral committees and other institutions in charge of the official publication of these documents.

What is the Virtual Comunity of Forestry Resource?

The Virtual Community of Forest Resources is the set of information in all its various forms: texts, periodicals or not, undergraduate, master or doctorate theses, laws, regulations, manuals, brochures, reports, international events, multimedia or any other document linked to the forestry sector, which aims to disseminate forest information among all stakeholders in the sector using a system of computer tools that favors the availability of this information to improve the monitoring of forest management, its protection, and forest harvesting throughout the country and for the rest of the world. This community is supported by the FAO-FLEGT Project "Sharing information for the strengthening of knowledge on the Cuban forest sector among all the participating actors".
